Summary: The drive/entrance to the hotel promised a pleasant stay. But we were disappointed overall once checked in. For starters, one of the lifts was out of order, we were also told the hotel jacuzzi wasn't working either. Then bedroom decor was dated and tired, some nasty stains on the carpet, bed poorly made (you could see the matress showing as the sheet wasn't tucked in at all; one tiny pillow for a king sized bed looked ridiculous, and no spare blankets or pillows in case needed which you usually get in other hotels. Things got considerably worse in the dining room. We'd booked our table OK, the place was less than half full. Then we looked at the menu.. I'd checked the hotel's version online when I'd booked and it looked contemporary, so influenced my decision to book. However, I don't know how out of date it was but the actual menu was like that of a Berni Inn's! Pretty much very basic pub fare only. Then the waiting staff left a lot to be desired. We kept hearing the word 'sorry' from them to guests, wine orders took ages to arrive - one couple received theirs after their meal had already arrived. I was totally underwhelmed with the food choice, so opted for fish - only to find the last portion had already been sold. So in desperation, opted for the child portion of fish gougons (which were actually jumbo-sized fish fingers in batter). I'd asked for tartare sauce but that was forgotten too. We avoided the breakfast we'd paid for and couldn't wait to leave :(
